JUST THINKING OUT LOUD. . . .
The American President is the commander in chief of our Armed Forces, exercising the power to order our citizen-soldiers into harm's way and sometimes sending them to their death. My father taught me as a principle of leadership that I should never order a follower to do anything that I would not be willing to do myself. Shouldn't our president be someone who has demonstrated a willingness to go into harm's way to protect our country? Should we amend our Constitution to require as a qualification for office that our president be an honorably discharged veteran of the Armed Forces?

Sounds like a reasonable qualification requirement to me.
